End of August News

Seemingly my daily life is getting busier and busier....I don't know where all my time is going but I do know I've had relatively little time to work on new breeder listings.

Currently I am working on listings I've received around August 21 and 22nd, so I am a bit more than a week behind. Now this doesn't seem too bad until I realize I am receiving several new listing requests each day!

I also try to work on breeders' requests for updating info in their listings...sometimes a new email address or website link or even the addition of a phone number. These changes take just as long to make as it does for me to put a brand new listing in, but they are important to stay on top of. After all...an outdated website full of bad links is not very helpful!

If you sent your listing in, please please be patient! I'd love to work on my site for endless hours each day to get everyone in immediately, but that just doesn't pay my bills, so I grudgingly have to leave for work after only a short time working web each morning.

One thing you all can do to help is to make sure the info you send me is accurate and complete - I've spent a lot of unnecessary time searching for missing info from listing requests and this really slows me down!

Another important point is to make sure our links are on your site if you request a premium listing.

As always, I'll email you once I've put your listing in - please check your new listing for accuracy and let me know of any mistakes or changes you want!

And..thanks for visiting The Rabbit & Cavy Directory!

Looking for Info for our newer State/Country Breeder pages!

I am looking for cool links and info for our newer state and country breeder pages. I already have a few links for each state/country but can certainly use more!

Let me know about your state! Where are the good feed stores? Do you know of a rabbit club in your state? Do you keep up with legislation that affects our rabbit and cavy breeders rights, in your state? Let me know what is going on so I can put this info on your state's page.

Hope you enjoy our new website pages - let me know what you'd like to see in our directory or what improvements/features you'd recommend.

thanks, Cathy

Server was down this morning

Apparently my web server was down for several hours today.....everything is back up and running - If you tried to visit to submit a listing or info and couldn't reach us, try now! Sorry

New Info - Oklahoma Rabbit & Cavy Breeders page

This morning I added some new rabbit club info to our new Oklahoma Rabbit & Cavy Breeders page

The Tulsa Rabbit Breeders Association is a long-standing, all-breed ARBA sanctioned club in Oklahoma. Although this club doesn't have a website, I do have the secretary's contact info listed on our Oklahoma page.

We also listed the link to a newer Holland Lop club in Oklahoma, who enjoys members from several states; Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas so far. Visit the Oklahoma Holland Lop Rabbit Specialty Club for more info on their upcoming August 26 show featuring not only a Holland Lop specialty show, but also a multi-breed specialty show!

If you have interesting news, links to clubs, rabbit or cavy info for your state, please visit our site, The Rabbit & Cavy Directory, and contact us through our site, to get your info listed!

Of course, I've also been adding a lot of new breeder listings but just haven't had a lot of time to review them here in my blog - check out our scrolling announcement box on our home page for new breeder listings and be sure to visit these new breeders!

Have a great weekend : )

Finished with removing old/dead website links

I've gone through and removed the listings with old, changed or broken website links. There are a few I left as I suspect their servers were just temporarily down - I'll recheck those soon.

If your listing was deleted, please just resubmit a new breeder listing and I'll gladly put you back in!

I've seen some really nice websites come through our directory - the quality of breeders' websites has been really improving over the last year! This is great news for those of us working on building an extensive web network; well-made, content-rich websites generally do well with the search engines out there. I'd like to see all rabbit and cavy breeders well-represented on the web!

Gradual improvements to The Rabbit & Cavy Directory continue.......due to rapid growth, I've now finished breaking down the alphabetic group rabbitry and caviary pages into individual pages, and I've also finished and published the individual state/country pages. These changes allow for faster-loading pages, plus more precise results in the search engines.

My next project will be the most time consuming - and will probably take me throughout winter to complete; optimizing all the breed gallery pages. Almost all these pages are just too large - I'll probably make all the pictures into thumbnails to save loading time, plus re-organize the information on each page. Of course, I'll need to verify that all the breed info is current - I suspect some of it is now outdated, such as club secretary info and more.

While I work on each breed, I'll also add new pictures. Believe me, I've got many pictures that have been sent to me over the past year, that I haven't had time to put in to the breed pages!

Well,,, thanks for your patience while I continue to make changes and improvements to our directory!
