New Breeder Listings Added June 30

This morning I added 3 new premium breeder listings to our directory:

Wooligans Rabbitry is in California and is owned by Jersey Wooly breeder Lisa Knott. I especially like her website - very professional looking with a striking choice of colors!

Amanda Cunningham owns Amanda's Gentle Giants rabbitry in Washington. She raises Flemish Giants, Mini Rex and the newly-recognized breed, the Mini Satin.

Allison Ruwe is a small Illinois breeder raising Californians and Netherland Dwarf rabbits at Saddle Creek Rabbitry.

I also added several standard listings as well;

KW Bunnies, Celtic Odyssey Rabbitry and Megan's Menagerie are now in our directory, please visit The Rabbit & Cavy Directory for full listing information for these breeders!

Also updated a few listings this morning too - sure appreciate breeders keeping me up to date with changes to their listings!

I have been working on breaking down all the ARBA District pages into individual state/area pages so these growing pages load faster. This is no easy task though...I'll end up with over 50 pages from just the current 9 ARBA District pages. I am planning each state/area page to also provide information about each particular state/area, with links to websites to help breeders learn more about their state, legislation that could affect them, and travel info for visitors. I'll also clear out a space to list individual rabbit and cavy clubs for each state/area.

Happy Friday!

How To Get Your Listing In Quicker.....

If I didn't have to sleep, I'd probably have more time to spend getting caught up on breeder listings, but as it is, I have limited time during the weekdays to work on our directory. To accomodate new breeder listing requests in a timely manner, I've decided to streamline the time I can spend on each listing - I simply no longer have the time to 'fix' listing requests and such.

Some hints to help breeders successfully submit their information;

1) Please Please take a few minutes and read the informations on our Submit Your Rabbitry/Caviary page! If you follow all the instructions on this page, your listing request will contain the correct information I need, which will allow me to quickly put your listing in. Apparently, many skip over these instructions and send me listings I cannot put in without myself doing a lot of searching for the correct info {and this is just not going to happen right now!} Some of the glaring mistakes are:

2) If you have a website - send me a correct working link! In order to save time, I need the full address of your website, which allows me to simply click on your link and go to your site. This means you must type your link in this fashion http://www.yoursite.com/ If you are confused, open your site's homepage online and look up at the top of the screen in the address bar - copy that full address and send that to me! If I click on your website link and it returns an error message - I will delete your request and ask you to re-submit with the correct info!

I also receive listing requests from breeders who have a domain or place on the web, but to not yet have their site up and going. Please - just wait until your site is up and going before you submit your listing!

3) Premium listings; for some reason, many indicate that they want a premium listing, but when I visit their sites to verify our link, I cannot find our link! Again, from now on, I will just delete the request and ask you to re-submit after you've added our link.

Oh I suppose I could just put the listing in as a standard listing, but I find that oftentimes, the breeder will soon after, link to me and ask for an updated listing! Now this probably doesn't seem like a big deal does it? but....it is...it takes me just as long to highlight or upgrade a listing as it does to put a new one in, in other words, it would have saved me a ton of time if I could have just put the listing in as a premium listing from the get-go!

On the same hand, I frequently find our links (for premium listings) on breeders' websites spelled wrong or not working- it takes me a good amount of my time to put your listing in, please take a few seconds of your time to make sure our link is displayed correctly on your site! : )

4) Email address are important to list correctly. I bet I receive at least 5 requests per week where the email address sent with the listing is not correct. If I can't reach you through the email address you gave me - I can surely surmise that no one else can either. I have no way of even contacting breeders to let them know I need a correct email address, so these listings are usually just deleted too.

Altight enough ranting here...

Many changes to our directory will be coming over summer. Due to the rapid growth of The Rabbit & Cavy Directory, I have already started breaking down pages into smaller, faster-loading pages; I've finished the Rabbitry and Caviary alphabetic listing pages so each letter is on a separate page, the ARBA Distric pages need to be broken down in to separate state pages, and I also plan to optimize all the Breed Gallery pages. On the back burner I still have new breed pages to add, a commercial rabbit use segment, plus a lot more!

New listings added today!

This morning I put in several new breeder listings;

PC Rabbitry, Sparkiling River Caviary, Misty Morning Farm, Six Bells Rabbitry, Harris's Dutch Hutches, Delta Ridge Rabbitry, Debbutes Rabbits, Country Valley Rabbitry, CJ's Rabbitry, Stoney Hill Rabbitry, Maple Sugar Buns and Fox Creek Rabbitry.

As many of you know, I fell behind with listings during May, due to my intense schedule here at home and work. I am finally getting caught up!

I've seen a lot of really nice websites come across here - I can't wait to have the time to visit more of these in detail.

Faster loading pages!

A few mornings ago, while I was beginning to work on new breeder listings, it occurred to me that our rabbitry and caviary listing pages had grown so large and were now taking too long a time to load, especially for dial-up users.

I sat down with the task of breaking each page into individual letter pages. This took me a few days...and this morning I finally published all the new pages. I hope these new, smaller pages will be helpful to our dial-up surfers!

During this week, I'll be back at putting breeder listings in - if you've sent your listing, don't worry, I've received it and it will be put in. As usual, I'll send each breeder a follow-up email once your listing is in the directory! I have had a good number of listings come through that I can't put in - some do not give me the correct website address, some don't send me a full web url (and I just don't have the time to find your site), and others claim to want a premium listing but do not have our link on their site yet.

Please....if you are submitting your rabbitry or caviary for inclusion, make sure the information you send is accurate, and please type your complete website url, including the http://www. at the beginning of it - I have such limited time to get listings in and if I cannot simply click on your link from our listing form to get to your website, I have to push your listing request to the bottom, and save it for a day when I have time to look up and find your website!

My next project is to streamline the Breed Gallery pages so they, too, will be faster loading for our dial up users. During this coming optimization I also hope to put some of the new breed pictures in, that have been sent to me by all you wonderful rabbit and cavy breeders!

Well, enjoy your Father's Day!

New Premium Breeder Listings today

This morning I added a few more premium breeder listings to our rabbit and cavy directory;

J.V.'s Cavies is owned by Jayme Vincent of Hillsboro, Oregon. Jayme is a youth breeder raising Teddies and Teddy Satin cavies. She is also active in gymnastics and is competing in the Junior Olympics in early June - good luck Jayme!

Carol Bolin is an open exhibitor raising Texels, Silkies and Silky Satin cavies in North Carolina at Precious Caviary. Her website has more info and pictures of her beautiful cavies - and I especially like 'meeting' another Nirvana fan!

I've also added some standard listings today; Archway Rabbitry, Boilermaker Rabbitry and Lakeview Rabbitry - visit our directory for more info on these breeders.

Slowly....slowly I am getting caught up with new breeder listings - again, thanks for your patience!

good day : )

New Breeder Listings this morning

This morning I put in new standard listings for Sunrise Lops, Lucky Raffle Rabbitry, Hillbunny Rabbitry and Spencerville Hillside Rabbitry - check out our directory website for more info on these breeders!

Almost the end of the school year and end of all the sports activities my sons are involved in. For some reason, we have spent almost every recent weekend at soccer tournament, most out of town. I have only had fleeting moments on the computer, just enough time to check email!

As of today, I have probably 30 new breeder listings to put in. I'll get a few in each morning until I'm caught up.

Please - anyone who is thinking of submitting your listing - take the time to read and follow the instructions on our submit your rabbitry/caviary page. It seems often that I receive listing requests with incomplete information, especially incomplete links to breeders' websites! With so little available time during spring - I find I have to pass over some listings because I just don't have the time to find their websites! Please type your full website address, including the http:// at the beginning if you want to see your listing quicker!!

I also see that many listings fill out that they are expecting a premium listing but I cannot find our website link on their sites! Usually I'll put these listings aside too, and recheck in a few weeks to see if our link is up yet. If I've got the time, I'll email and ask where our link is.....

That's it until tomorrow... have a great Monday!
