New Listings and reviews Feb 26, 2006

Since February 22, through today, I've added 5 new rabbit and cavy breeder listings to our directory. I finally found enough time to review these breeders and their websites!

Added this morning was Bear Mountain Rabbitry, in British Columbia, Canada. Amy (no last name given) raises Holland Lops, American Fuzzy Lops and a few White Crested cavies.

Scott Stockwell owns an eastern Massashusetts rabbitry called HotDotBunz, where he raises Mini Rex and Britannia Petites.

Seneca Pride Rabbitry is a western New York rabbitry owned by Patsy Brooks, and is where she raises Lionheads, Holland Lops and Netherland Dwarf rabbits. Unique web design by Sam & Rain Silverhawk!

Tami Reithmayr owns Reithmayr Acres, and rabbitry in Washington state where she raises Mini Rex, Himalayans and Polish rabbits. She doesn't have a website to list, but does have her contact info in our directory.

Campo's Cottontails, owned by Carrie Campo, is located in Washington state also. Carrie has attained over 15 years of breeding quality Holland Lops and is well-known for her color lines - even two of our Holland bucks go back to her lines! She also raises American Fuzzy Lops, Lionheads and Netherland Dwarf rabbits.

This weekend I finally published the redo of our other site, LaReau Lops & Cavies. This site had taken me over a month to finish and has kept me from putting as much time into our directory site, as I'd have liked.

After I do a little more tweaking to that site, I plan to work on all the rabbit and cavy breed pictures breeders have been sending in for our Breed Gallery pages. I can't wait to get these in - I've seen some awesome rabbit and cavy breed pictures come through my email!

New Breeder Listings Feb 22, 2006

This morning we added two new breeder listings to our rabbit and cavy directory website.

Min's Mini Lops is owned by a youth 4-H member named Marin. Her Mini Lop rabbitry is in Bakersfield, California. She has a very nice website designed by Hoppin' Herd of Hares - complete with wonderful pictures of her foundation Mini Lops and pictures of the Mini Rex and other rabbits that first got her interested in raising rabbits! She also has some well-written rabbit care tips available to viewers. Nice work Marin, and good luck with those Mini Lops!

Reina Melillo raises English Angoras in her Belvidere, Illinois rabbitry named Fern Valley Rabbitry. Reina just recently got into English Angoras and is plunging full steam ahead...she has already produced a few litters - check out her site to see pictures of cute young English Angoras from her rabbitry! Sounds like her hubby is working on a large rabbitry expansion project too. In March of this year, Reina plans to exhibit her Angoras at her first rabbit show - how exciting for you, Reina! Good luck!

In my quest to keep breeder listings current and accurate, I seem to be spending more and more time each morning updating and changing listings. I am amazed at how fast website urls and listing info can change from day-to-day! If you are in my directory, please keep me posted with your changes and updates, as I find myself pressed for the spare time needed to browse listings like I used to!

New Breeder Listing, Feb 20, 2006

One new breeder added to our breeder directory this morning - Rainnes Jersey Woolies is owned by Lorraine Hassel of northern Minnesota. Lorraine's very first website has turned out nicely. Clearly-displayed pictures of her Jersey Woolies; I especially like the little REW junior doe!

Snoop's Scoops is her unique way of announcing her rabbitry news - Snoop is at a computer desk, apparently typing out the current news stories! Very cute! Visit her site for more Jersey Wooly pictures and to read about her progress and show news.

Already nearing the end of February....time is flying by!

Susie's Littlest Lops is owned by Kathy Rivera, of Idaho. Kathy is an ARBA member who has been raising Holland Lops for 14 years and produces a variety of colors! she also raises New Zealands and Flemish Giants. Visit our directory for more info on Susie's Littlest Lops!

Our final new breeder listing is a youth breeder named Alexia Voitle from Vermont. She raises Netherland Dwarf and Mini Rex rabbits. She has the start of a website named The Bunnie Babes.

I should also mention that Forget-Me-Not Rabbitry has changed to a new url. This rabbitry is jointly owned by Theresa Mueller and Cheryl Rafoth of Washington, where they have been successfully breeding Holland Lops for over 15 years. Visit their 'new' site today for wonderful Holland info and pictures!

That's it - have a nice Sunday!

New Breeder Listing Reviews Feb, 17, 2006

Over the past few days we'ved added seven new breeder listings to our rabbit and cavy directory!

Our first review is about Wagner's Bunny Haven located in central Pennsylvania. Owner Mary Ellen Wagner breeds a limited amount of Holland Lops, Lionheads, and Polish, in addition to Skinny Pigs (a hairless breed of cavy). Her site offers free classified ads and free printable pedigrees courtesy of Tiny Tots Rabbitry, her web designer.

Gemini Cavies is a newer caviary owned by Andrea Swimm in Ontario, Canada. She raises dilute Coronet and Silkie cavies, both long-haired breeds. You'll enjoy the cavy pictures on her website!

Susie Cederlof is a Californian youth breeder who owns Wooly World Rabbitry, where she raises.....Jersey Woolies! Susies has many pictures of her rabbits on her website along with tidbits about her show accomplishments.

Cat Walk Rabbitry is a Californian Lionhead rabbitry owned by Michelle Herman. She has a small rabbitry near Sacramento, and her website showcases her main breeding buck, Lionart, from Cimmaron stock.

Two Hunnyz Rabbitry is the combined effort of Tom and Krystal Beers in Washington. They are newer breeders of the Satin breed and decided to concentrate on the beautiful chocolate variety. They have a nice start to their website, with breed info, personal info and more, but I could not find pictures of their stock yet...perhaps work in progress....

We also added two listings of breeders who do not yet have websites. Our directory does list their contact info should you have an interest in their rabbits. The first is Circle K Rabbitry owned by Jonathan Kahl in Texas. He raises Mini Lops, Holland Lops, Mini Rex and Californians.

2-Sisters Bunny Hutch is owned by Jemma, Julia and Kelly Morrow. They raise Havanas and Mini Lops in their northwest Montana rabbitry.

That is all folks...I hope I haven't missed anyone....

Reviews of Breeders added Feb 11, 2006

Finally....I have the time to review our new breeder listings from February 11th! Sorry for the delay.....rabbit show then we all came down with the flu here so things have been slow moving!

The most notable new breeder listing I've added to our directory has got to be Bob Whitman's site, Rare Bits & Pieces. This Texas breeder and authority on rabbit history and breeds, has been raising rabbits since 1968.

His travels throughout Europe and the Middle East prompted him to collect anything rabbit-related; stamps, nick-nacks, books, etc. This extensive collection of rabbit items led to the naming of his rabbitry and since 1980, Rare Bits & Pieces came to be an ARBA-registered rabbitry.

Not only has Bob collected rare rabbit-related things, he's also collected and promoted rare breed rabbits! Currently he raises Blanc de Hotots, Enderby Island rabbits, Little Checkers, Argente (Noir, Bleu, Creme and Brun), Creme D'Argents, Netherland Dwarfs, Lutinos, Dwarf Angoras, Hulslanders, Thiantas (a newly-recognized by ARBA breed), Perlfees and Giant Cavies.

Bob has also published a popular book Domestic Rabbits and Their Histories; Breeds of The World. This book is available for $40 plus $6 shipping, through Bob's website or through the ARBA website.

Rare Bits & Pieces is a must-visit; tons of information and pictures on rare breeds - definately a great resource!

Bridegroom's Rabbitry is a Troy, New York Holland Lop rabbitry owned by David Bridegroom.
He raises many colors of Holland Lops and has unique, cut-out pictures of his rabbits on his website!

Some Bunnies Rabbitry is owned by Trisha Slease. She raises Harlequins and Californians in her Indiana rabbitry - visit our directory for her contact info, no website yet.

Potter's Barn Rabbitry is a Tennessee Lionhead rabbitry owned by Joey and Kristen Potter. Their website has some wonderful Lionhead pictures; fast-loading thumbnails too! They also raise hybrid Lionheads, Velvet and Dwarf varieties. Their site includes a blog which is fun to read and I see they are also working on a forum. Good luck with those beautiful Lionheads!

Bay Side Bunny Barn is the last rabbitry review today. This New York rabbitry is owned by Mike Rostiser, where he raises Mini Rex and Netherland Dwarf rabbits. His site has a listing of rabbits for sale, sorry, no pictures though!

Today, I added 5 new breeder listings to our directory, but I'll have to review those later...I have been working every spare minute on redoing our LaReau Lops site...almost ready to republish!

We added 5 new listings to our directory today. Unfortunately, I do not have time to review these today - we are getting ready for rabbit showing this weekend! I'll get you a nice description of each breeder, either Sunday night or Monday morning.

Please do stop back for this review - I have some very interesting breeders to report on!

New Breeder Listings Feb 9, 2006

A quick description of the three new breeder listings added this morning, to our directory;

Cuddle Bunnys Patch is a Pennsylvania rabbitry owned by Jill Santly. She raises several breeds - Dutch, Holland Lops, Netherland Dwarfs, Lionheads and Mini Rex. Her site has quick loading thumbnail pictures of her rabbits.

Lisa Rodenfels operates Somerhill Angoras in southeast Ohio. She has some really nice pictures of her champion French Angoras....a breed I hardly ever get to see! Satin Angoras are a newer breed for Lisa, and she hopes to focus on reds and coppers, but has a variety of colors. Again, she has some terrific pics of Satin Angora litters. Lisa actively spins woool. Nice website.

Checkmate Rabbitry is a Dalton, Georgia rabbitry owned by Beverly Whitener. She raises Holland Lops and her website is filled with wonderful pictures of them. Her website, designed by Gemini Rabbitry, has a cute medieval theme to it and is quite nice.

New Breeder Listings Feb 8, 2006

This morning I only had time to put in three of the six new breeder listings I received overnight; I am trying to finish up our major re do of our other site, LaReau Lops & Cavies, before our show season starts!

Neal Rabbitry is owned by Darrell Neal, of Natchez Mississippi and he raises Satins in white and californian varieties. No website listed, but Darrell's contact info is published with his breeder listing in our directory.

Julie Hickie owns an Alberta, Canadian rabbitry called Nequila Rabbitry. She raises Mini Rex and Lionhead rabbits, and also sells EZ Crock supplies and custom-made rabbit cages.

Majestic Cottage is a caviary owned by Kelly Gilmore. She raises Peruvians, Texels, Silkies, Coronets, and Teddies in her Canadian caviary. Visit her website to see not only awesome cavy pictures, but also some very striking pictures of her home and her British Columbian landscape!

That is it for today - I will get the other three breeder listings in with tomorrow's update.

New Breeder Listings Feb 7, 2006

Early this morning we added two new rabbit breeder listings to our directory.

Napoleons Hutch is owned by Karey Welliver, and is where she raises Holland Lops in sable points, opals and other rarer colors. Her rabbitry is located in Alberta, Canada; in the beautiful foothills of Calgary, and she attends shows in the area. Napoleons Hutch website has pictures of her Holland Lop stock, along with her own blog, which makes for some interesting reading!

Trent Canipe owns Fatboys Rabbitry in North Carolina. He must love those lops as he raises Holland Lops, Mini Lops and French Lops! Trent breeds for both show and breeding quality rabbits. No website, but his contact information is listed in our directory, including his phone number - give him a call if you are looking for lops in North Carolina!

New Breeder Listings Feb 6, 2006

Our first new breeder listing today is Luv-Ya-Lops Rabbitry owned by the mother-daughter team of Jessica and Tami Peters, in the state of Oregon. They own some awesome foundation Holland Lops from lines such as; Belokonny, Critter Co*op, L&R and Pitney, and their website pictures really show them off nicely. They are producing some very nice rabbits of their own - I love the picture of their doe, Rosie Blossum!

Another Wisconsin youth breeder was also added today; Emily Mertins owns Starfire Hollands and raises Holland Lops, New Zealands, Californians and Satins. She started out showing at the Waukesha county fair and has since branched out to attending ARBA shows in the area. Emily's website has a lot of pictures of her rabbits, but I am a little confused about which stock she's purchased from other breeders as she has her rabbitry prefix on some of their names, a mistake made by some newer breeders. Hope to see you at some Wisconsin shows Emily!

New Breeder Listings Feb 5, 2006

This morning, only one new breeder listing was added to our directory, but what an interesting one!

Shamrock7s Rabbitry is a North Carolina rabbitry owned by Richard Hawkins. He raises Lionhead rabbits, a new breed currently under development through the American Rabbit Breeders Association.

What is interesting is that he also raises velvet Lionheads and Lionhead lops! I've never seen these before, but can picture them in my mind. The Lionhead lops must by truly endearing.

Richard does not yet have a website to show off his Lionheads, but his email and phone contact information are included at our website, The Rabbit & Cavy Directory.

Good luck with your Lionheads Richard!

New Breeder Listings Feb 4, 2006

Well I am up early this morning to add 4 new rabbit breeder listings to our directory!

Our first new breeder is Andrea McAvoy, who owns Electric Bunny rabbitry on beautiful Vancouver Island, Canada. Andrea raises Dwarf Hotots and her website has some really cute pictures of this breed - worth visiting! Her unique rabbitry name was derived from her love of electric guitars and music, and in fact, all her rabbits have 'music-inspired names'!

Rosenbrook's Managerie is owned by Wisconsin breeder, Tania Rosenbrook. She raises many different breeds; from Dwarf Hotots, Holland Lops, and Mini Rex, to Rex and Dutch, plus more! Her website is rather new so all her rabbitry information is not yet available.

Another new breeder listing today is Tamara Davidson who raises Holland Lops in her Toronto, Canada rabbitry, Heaven on Earth Rabbitry. She specializes in tri-color and harlequin varieties. Tamara doesn't have a website to list yet, but her contact information is available on our website.

Our last new entry today is Trouble Tribbles Rabbitry owned by Tanya D. Marx. Tanya raises Holland Lops, Netherland Dwarfs and soon, English Angoras in her West Virginia rabbitry. Her link will take you to her website, but you'll find the site under construction and not quite useable yet.

Time to go...my coffee cup is dry.....

New Breeder Listings Feb 3, 2006

This morning we added 4 new breeder listings to our directory.

The first, from Wisconsin, is Rocky 7 Rabbitry owned by the mother-daughter team of Deb and Kayla Moe.
Rocky 7 Rabbitry is home to Mini Rex, Havana and Polish rabbits and the Moe family attends shows throughout mid-Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Deb Moe is working on a rabbit feed comparison project. She plans to post her results on her website as soon as she is finished gathering information about different brands of rabbit feed. Take a look at her site to see if your favorite brand of rabbit food is on her list - and if it isn't, add it to her research list by emailing her! Sounds like her results will be very interesting to us rabbit breeders!

The second listing we added today is a newer Washington rabbitry named BroJo Hill's Havana Rabbits, and as the name implies, they raise Havana rabbits. Owned by Kim Brodie, her family raises black, blue and chocolate varieties and is working towards some show successes! Good luck Kim!

Sunny Acres, a Canadian rabbitry owned by Norma Vandusen, was also added to our directory today. Her rabbitry is in Manitoba and she raises Flemish Giants, Silver Fox, Satins, Holland Lops, plus commercial breeds. Her website has some general breed descriptions and pictures.

Kathy Taylor owns Faraway French Angoras, the last breeder listing we added this morning. Her West Virginia rabbitry produces French Angora rabbits exclusively. No website listing for Kathy, but she does have an email contact on our website, and she does ship rabbits! Contact her to find your next French Angora!

Two Newly Recognized Rabbit Breeds!

As of today, February 1st, 2006, two rabbit breeds are newly-recognized by The American Rabbit Breeders Association and are eligible to compete for points and awards in ARBA-sanctioned shows!

The Mini Satin is a small rabbit with a shiny, silky coat similar to the Satin rabbit. J. Leo Collins of Ohio, holds the certificate of development for the white variety, which is the only variety that has been accepted so far. According to the working standard, the Mini Satin is pure white with a light ivory cast and has pink eyes. The ideal adult weight for both bucks and does is 4 pounds. Although the Mini Satin is a distinct breed, the American Satin Rabbit Breeders Club oversees the Mini Satin along with the Satin rabbit. Visit their website for more information on this new breed.

The Thrianta has a fiery brilliant red coat with dark brown eyes according to Bob Whitman's description of this newly recognized breed. The ideal senior weight is 5-6 lbs. I haven't had the opportunity to do research on this breed as of yet, so I don't have much else to report here. I do look forward to adding pictures and info to our Thrianta Breed Gallery page though!

New Breeder Listing, Feb 1, 2006

Today we added a listing for K, L & M Rabbitry to our directory.

Dutch rabbits in all varieties are raised in this small, northwestern Indiana rabbitry. As is common among rabbit breeders, this rabbitry started out as a 4-H project. Owner Lauryn, has been raising Dutch rabbits competatively since 2003.

Their website has clear pictures of their Dutch rabbits - although when I tried to view their 'slide show' the pictures loaded as over-sized images that were difficult to view on my screen. Overall, the rest of their site is quick loading and easy to navigate.

I also spend a fair amount of time updating breeder listings in our directory. Many rabbitries switch or add rabbit breeds for various reasons, and I am always glad to update listings so viewers have current information.

That's all for today....bunny chores then off to work!
