New Breeder Listings, Jan 31, 2006

Only one new breeder listing to add to our directory today.

Starlit Meadows Rabbitry is Patrick and Ruth Loewen's Canadian Mini Rex rabbitry. Ruth had raised rabbits since she was 14 years old, under Forget Me Not Rabbitry. Circumstances forced her to sell out of all her rabbits about 6 years later.

Just a few years ago, she got back in to raising rabbits and chose the Mini Rex breed. They plan to concentrate on some of the rarer colors and may also try to develop the blue sable color.

Their website immediately caught my attention - the crisp design and simple contrasting graphics used, make this website a pleasure to visit! They have some nice pictures of their young Mini Rex rabbits along with select pictures of their breeding stock also.

Good luck with your Mini Rex, Ruth and Patrick!

New Breeder Listings Jan. 29, 2006

We have added 3 new breeder listings to our directory on this fine January day!

The first one has a unique name; WE.B.C.N.SPOTS rabbitry, and you've probably guessed by now that they raise English Spots! This Indiana rabbitry is owned by a mother-daughter team, Karen and Heather Dunaway, who were involved in 4-h before hitting the open shows beginning in 2002. Their site has some nice pictures of English Spots in the varieties they raise.

The second new breeder listing is Sarah's Cottontails. Sarah (no last name given) raises dilute Mini Rex in her Massashussetts rabbitry and she is the president and active 4-H youth leader of the Watertown 4-H Rabbit Habit Club. Her site has an excellent page of Mini Rex colors - most pictures really show off the different colors - definately a nice resource if you are trying to determine colors of your Mini Rex!

The final new listing today is a Wisconsin breeder, Kate Mewes, who owns M&M Rabbitry. Kate shows in the northern WI region and has done well with the Mini Rex rabbits she raises. I found a page on her website stating that all her rabbits are for sale, but Kate tells me she is selling all her Mini Rex colors and just concentrating on raising the blues, chocolates and lilacs.
That's all today - I am still working on our other site, LaReau Lops & Cavies, trying to finish my major overhaul by next week but it is slow-going.

New Breeder Listings Jan 28, 2006!

Two more nice rabbit breeder listings put into our directory site this morning!

The first, Shawnda's Rabbitry, is a Texas rabbitry raising both pet and show quality Dwarf Hotots and Netherland Dwarfs. Her site has pretty, but not overbearing, background graphics that are a pleasure to view!

Hamilton's Hoppin' Lops is owned by Malena Hamilton. Her small rabbitry is located in western North Carolina, among the mountain range! She raises primarily Holland Lops and has a few Lionhead rabbits also. I like the simplicity of her site and the warm colors of her backgrounds - she also has some nice pictures of her rabbits-who look like fine Hollands.

That's it for today - I've been working on an overhaul of our other site, LaReau Lops & Cavies, but apparently my lack of an actual plan is keeping me from completing this job - Every time I relook at the site, I see another major change I want to do! Someday.......

New Breeder Listings Jan 27, 2006

This morning, I added 4 new breeder listings to our rabbit and cavy breeder directory.

The first, Fun Fur Bunny Spa, is Carol O'Sullivan's Canadian rabbitry where she raises Holland Lops and American Fuzzy Lops. Her nicely-designed one-page website is located on the Fuzzylop.com server along with pages for several other AFL breeders.

The next three breeder listings do not yet have websites;

The Okie Piggies is an Oklahoma caviary owned by Susi Eastin, who also tells me there is a new cavy club in NE Oklahoma called 'The Green County Cavy Club". This new cavy club is currently working on their charter and is part of the Tulsa Rabbit Club. The Green County Cavy Club is also developing a website - as soon as they are up and running, I'll add their information and link to our directory too!

Cavy Nook is Dania Nordstrom's Oregon caviary raising Texels and Americans.

5 Star's Rabbitry raises Mini Lops and Polish rabbits in Ohio and is owned by Alan McAdams.

It has been raining rabbit pictures! Within the past week I've received probably 50 cool rabbit pictures for our Breed Gallery! I can't wait to get these displayed - many are very nice.

New Breeder Listings Jan 25, 2006

How I enjoy visiting other rabbit breeder's websites!

Today, I've had the pleasure of adding three new listings to our breeder directory. I'll tell you a little about each one;

The first, Sweet Dreams Rabbitry, is Kim Robert's website about her small, 25-hole Holland Lop rabbitry in Georgia. Her website, developed by Laurie Stroupe of The Nature Trail, is very nice, clean and fast-loading, and has some cool pictures showing off her Holland Lops from Saynora, The Nature Trail and Camelot Rabbitries. Good luck on the show tables Kim!

Bunny Hug Acres is Joann Shevock's Pennsylvania rabbitry where she raises Netherland Dwarfs in all varieties, and Lionheads. Her site is designed by Tiny Tots Designs and although it appears to have some sections still under construction, navigation is easy and she has some awesome pictures of Netherland Dwarfs in many colors.

Our last new listing today is a brother and sister team from Turtle Lake, Wisconsin. Hildi and Ethan Kettenacker, own White Clover Rabbitry, and have been raising and showing rabbits for about 12 years from what I hear. They have several breeds; Mini Lops, English Lops, American Fuzzy Lops, Holland Lops, Lionheads, and Mini Rex. Wow! That's enough to keep anyone busy! No website listed for White Clover Rabbitry but you can see their listing and get their contact info from our website.

That's it for today's new listings. Hope you enjoyed our short reviews!

Our Breeder Blog is Finally Going!

Welcome to our new blog all about rabbit and cavy breeders! Our website, The Rabbit & Cavy Directory offers free listings for rabbit and cavy breeders and I wanted to be able to tell about the new listings I put in almost daily.

Wow! Some of these rabbit and cavy websites are awesome! I've seen some really professional web designs and layouts - I can only hope to ever learn how to do some of what these breeders accomplish!

My page on helping other breeders get their own website is coming along nicely...I've got probably a dozen listings of other breeders who offer website design services to others, I hope this will become a helpful page for those who want a website but don't know where to begin.

We still have a huge backlog of pictures to get into our Breed Gallery. I've been sent some really nice pics of many different rabbit and cavy breeds - it just takes me so much time to optimize and cut each one, I truly wish I had more time to work on the pictures...I guess it will be a slower project than I thought.

I intend to use this blog to highlight recent additions to our directory and tell a bit about each breeder and their listing. I also want to post about rabbit and cavy breed news as I learn it, and changes to clubs, etc.
